Re:  UNUM Long-Term Disability claim

Dear Dr. Morris,

I have been assigned to review your Long-Term Disability (LTD) claims
file.  Based on my initial review, it appears the question which needs
to be answered is whether your condition(s) keeps you from performing
your occupation.

It is apparent that you and UNUM have been in conflict as to the
seriousness of your condition.  That is, you claim that you are unable
to work and UNUM claims that your condition is not severe enough to keep
you from working in your occupation.  In investigating your claim, UNUM
personnel made a decision, based on the information provided by you and
your attending physicians, as well as on the language of your policy,
that you were not disabled from performing the material duties of your
occupation.  However, reasonable people may, and often do, disagree.

Based on recent communications by you to UNUM and others, it appears you
feel you have not been treated fairly.  In light of your continued
dissatisfaction, I suggest that we have a personal meeting.  I am
willing to come to the western Massachusetts area to meet with you in a
neutral setting to discuss whether we may resolve our differences. 
Please call me directly at the number below if you are willing to meet. 
I am available to come to western Massachusetts on November
4-6,13,16-17, or 23-25.  Please let me know whether any of these dates
are acceptable to you.

If you are represented by counsel, please share this letter with
him/her.  Of course, you may invite counsel to any meeting.

to me.  Since I now have all the files pertaining to your claim, calls
to other UNUM personnel will not assist in action on your claim, so
