   Notes:

   Mr. Pleskow writes:

"The work is in two parts and a coda. The first part contains brief
ritornelli that serve to hinge the piece together, as well as fragments
of scales and arpeggios and a tune in fifths that interrupt the
essentially atonal terrain. The second part consists of a long flute
line on a cantus firmus on the name Stefan (Eb, B, E, F A), introduced
in part one. The coda concludes with materials of the first part and
cadences on the tonality of "B" predicted by the general pitch situation
as well as the above-mentioned historic fragments."
