A Letter Responding To Web Pages on
Insurance and IME Physicians

I just read your story and the entire insurance industry is corrupt. There is
no such thing as an 'impartial' or 'independent' exam when the insurance
company is paying for it. That's been my experience. Have you ever heard of
UNUM LIfe Ins Co., one of the most abusive ever. They just denied my LTD
claim (again) and cited a report from one of their IME doctors who gave
results in his written report for things that he didn't even ask me to do
during the exam!!! The whole thing was recorded and witnessed by a paralegal,
the transcript sent to UNUM in protest. They don't care. They just want a
report that allows them to deny the claim.

No one should ever attend one of these exams without a witness and a recorder.
Tell your friends. These doctors are arrogant, and what they do is not a
privilege of their professional license, but an abuse of it. And they just
get away with it all the time.

I think that deliberate falsification of a medical report is a felony in CA
and I am looking into it. Anyway, seems like conspiracy to commit fraud to
me, including mail fraud. These insurance companies and participating doctors
should be prosecuted for racketeering, because it's organized crime. That's
what I think.

Have you reported these doctors to the Medical Board?

Good luck to you. If you hear of anyone else denied by UNUM please let me
know.

Thankx,
